At Piazza Affari the day got off to a good start, thanks to positive news on the US-China trade front and better than expected macroeconomic data from the United States and Germany; but gradually the stock market indices in Milan lost momentum and in the end the Ftse Mib fell by 0.41% to 20,030 points (All Share -0.45% to 21,852).
On the main list, some financial stocks such as Nexi (+ 1.01%), Unipol (+ 0.58%), Generaki (+ 0.57%), Mediobanca (+ 0.56%) and Bper ( + 0.38%); on the other hand, the two big companies in the sector, Unicredit (-0.59%) and Intesa Sanpaolo (-0.28%), lost their position and Banca Mediolanum lost even more (-1.72%).
In the industrial sector Exor -2.35%, Cnh Industrial -2.18%, Interpump -1.75%, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles -1.14% and Leonardo -0.37%. StMicroelectronics (+ 0.84%) and Amplifon (+ 0.79%) did well. Energy was negative with Enel -0.79% and Eni -1.38%. Telecom Italia closed the day with a decrease of 1.39% in view of the expected board of directors of 31 August which will have to provide light on the theme of the single network.
Tomorrow in France the numbers of consumer confidence and jobseekers will be released, and in the United States those of mortgage applications and orders for durable goods and various goods, as well as numbers relating to crude oil stocks. In addition, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Canada, Carolyn Wilkins, and Andu Haldane, who sits on the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee, will speak in public.
