Cycling is anxious for Fabio Jakobsen, protagonist of a frightening fall in the sprint of the first stage of the Tour of Poland, a fraction of 195.8 which started from the Silesian Stadium, in Chorzow, and ended in Katowice. At the expense of Jakobsen, who ended up against the hurdles at very high speed when there was a few meters to the finish. The Dutchman of the Deceuninck-Quick Step was fighting with compatriot Dylan Groenewegen, who won the stage but then fell too once he crossed the finish line. Other riders remained involved, but Jakobsen’s condition seems to be the main concern at the moment.
According to reports from “L’Equipe”, reporting information released by Polish TV, Jakobsen was resuscitated on the spot by doctors, then transferred to hospital and placed in a pharmacological coma. The organizers decided to disqualify the Dutchman Dylan Groenewegen, guilty of causing the fall of his compatriot by widening the sprint line, and awarded the victory to Jakobsen himself.
